About me

Hey there, I’m Agnieszka Wiernik, a pediatric surgeon based in Poland. My days are all about surgeries and handling emergencies, but my passion stretches beyond the hospital walls.

I’m a proud graduate of the Diploma in Mountain Medicine, which I completed with the Canadian Society of Mountain Medicine in the Rocky and Coastal Mountains of Canada. This prestigious program, offered in only a few places worldwide, allowed me to gain solid theoretical and practical knowledge in mountain medicine, both in summer and winter conditions. I also completed postgraduate studies in Extreme and Travel Medicine at Jagiellonian University, where my journey truly began. From lectures to hands-on practice, my dream of becoming a mountain medicine doctor became a reality.

I got a taste of it in 2022 when I joined Elite Exped led by Nimsdai. I provided medical support during Everest, Lhotse, and Lobuche East Peak expeditions – an experience that truly shaped me.

When I’m not in the OR or in the mountains, you can find me at the gym, running in the park, at the climbing gym, or skitouring. Mountains and sports are my escape. I have had the opportunity to hike in the Alps, Patagonia, Iceland, and the Himalayas, but the Tatras are the most enchanting to me. I’m all about blending my medical expertise with the challenges of mountain terrain, and I’m excited to share my journey with you. Let’s connect the dots between medicine and the mountains!
